Fort Fisher Junior Reserves – Archaeology: Digging through the Past
Fort Fisher’s 2019 Junior Reserves summer season continues with ‘Archaeology: Digging through the Past’, a kid-friendly family event designed to introduce young participants to basic archaeology techniques with emphasis on the fun–and reward–of digging in the dirt. Explore the history of Fort Fisher through educational and hands-on activities that convey the history of Fort Fisher. Our event partner for this program is the NC Underwater Archaeology Lab. UAB staff members will display artifacts and discuss their role in underwater artifact discovery, handling, and preservation. While the program is free, donations are appreciated. All Fort Fisher programming is made possible through the generous support of the Friends of Fort Fisher, the support group that supports the site, the town of Kure Beach, the town of Carolina Beach, and New Hanover County. Program components are subject to change or cancellation due to weather or other factors.
