This year’s raffle features a set of Civil War reproduction revolvers - the Colt “Army" Model 1860 and the Remington New Model Army. In addition to the revolvers, this raffle comes in a custom handcrafted wooden display case, with a powder flask, a brass .44 caliber bullet mold, and a brass container for caps (caps not included).

Events at Fort Fisher are made possible by the Friends of Fort Fisher and its membership, as well as through the generous support from the towns of Carolina Beach and Kure Beach.

Fort Fisher’s and North Carolina’s World War II Experience Fort Fisher State Historic Site, 1610 Fort Fisher Blvd South, Kure Beach, NC 28443

Join us Saturday, October 12, 2019, as we examine Fort Fisher’s role as an Anti-Aircraft Artillery Training facility during World War II. Military and civilian re-enactors will set up displays on the old Fort Fisher airstrip and will be available to discuss historic weapons and the life of the World War II soldier, as well as family life on the homefront. The program will also highlight the contributions of the Women’s Airforce Services Pilots (WASP) program  and the critical role women played in the march toward victory. Throughout the day, guest speakers will discuss World War II topics in the Spencer Theater located inside the Fort Fisher visitor center. Other special activities include jeep rides in an authentic 1942 Willys jeep (small donation requested) and the Toy Soldier Workshop at which kids paint toy soldiers and learn about military uniforms and equipment. The program is free and open to the public. Program components subject to change due to unforeseen factors. All Fort Fisher programming is made possible by the Friends of Fort Fisher, the support group that supports the site, and its sustaining members, as well as by generous support from the town of Carolina Beach and the town of Kure Beach.

Make Your New Visitor's Center a Reality!

Last year over 900,000 people visited the Fort Fisher State Historic Site property! That's local families, school groups, military groups, retirement groups, Jr. ROTC, Boys/Girls Club Summer Camp, YMCA Summer Camp, tourists and more!  When the Visitor's Center was built back in the mid-1960's, it was originally intended to accommodate 25,000 people annually. We’ve far outgrown our capacity. With your help, we will build a larger, updated facility more worthy of the history it represents and the visitors it attracts.

Become a member. Join Friends of Fort Fisher. Volunteer in our gift shop or as an interpreter at the Fort. Join a committee or our Board of Directors. Put on a fundraiser through your company or community group. Sponsor an event or make a donation.

If you would like to know more about sponsorship and naming opportunities, please contact our Executive Director, Christine Divoky, at 910.233.2013 or cdivoky@friendsoffortfisher.com.
